Castiarina gardnerae
The name Castiarina is derived from that of Francois Louis Nompar de Castelnau. The species is named after Dr Jennifer Gardner OAM who collected the type specimen in South Australia. Dr Gardner’s PhD research involved the higher classification of the Tribe Stigmoderini leading Castiarina to be elevated from subgenus to generic status.
This beetle occurs across the southern parts of Australia.
This beetle is approximately 10 millimetres long.
We have found it on Jacksonia sterbergiana and Acacia pulchella in January and February.
