Xylomelum occidentale

Common name: Woody Pear

Meaning of name:

Xylomelum is from the Greek words xylon, meaning wood, and melon, meaning apple or fruit generally. Occidentale is from the Latin word occidentalis, meaning western.

Danja.

Aboriginal Use:

An infusion of the leaves and bark was used to relieve pain.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

A large shrub or tree to 8 metres tall. The white flowers are produced from December to February.
