Western Wattlebird

Scientific name: Anthochaera lunulata

Meaning of name:

Anthochaera is from the Greek words anthos, meaning flower, and chairein, meaning to rejoice. Lunulata is from the Latin word lunatus, meaning crescent-shaped.

Aboriginal Name:

Djoongong (choong’awng).

Distribution:

Found in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

Up to 33 centimetres long with a 38 centimetre wingspan.
