Wedge-tailed Eagle
Scientific name: Aquila audax
Aquila is Latin, meaning eagle, and audax, meaning bold or daring.
Found throughout Australia and into New Guinea.
Up to 105 centimetres long with a wingspan up to 230 centimetres.
The furthest distance recorded by the Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme for this species of bird to travel is 821 km. The oldest bird recorded was recovered 11 years 10.5 months after being banded (information as at 5 February 2018).
The photographs for this species were not taken in the reserves of interest to the FQPB.
