Thysanotus sparteus

Common name: Leafless Fringed Lily

Meaning of name:

Thysanotus is from the Greek word thysanotos, meaning fringed. Sparteus is from the Latin word spartum, meaning a Spanish broom. It refers to the growth habit of this species.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

Erect stems up to 1 metre tall. The purple, fringed flowers are held at the end of the stems from October to February.
