Temognatha conspicillata
Unknown.
Reported from southern parts of Western Australia.
This beetle was approximately 35 millimetres long.
Adults of Temognatha conspicillata emerge during December and January in the Perth area after feeding in the trunk and roots of Melaleuca trees for as many as 10 years.
The orange and blue beetle we have photographed is female. Males lack the first two blue bands and so are orange with a blue ‘tail’. However, there is also a blue form that doesn’t have any orange at all.
These photographs were taken in December and March.
