





Stirlingia latifolia
Common name: Blueboy
Stirlingia is named after Sir James Stirling (1791 – 1865), first governor of WA 1829-1838, who encouraged the study of native plants. Latifolia is from the Latin words latus, meaning broad, and folius, meaning leaf.
Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.
An undershrub to 40 centimetres, with flowering stems to 1.5 metres tall. The red-brown or yellowish flowers are produced from August to October. These are followed by the nuts which are covered in dense silvery tufts of hair.
