



Scholtzia involucrata
Common name: Spiked Scholtzia
Scholtzia honours Heinrich Scholtz (1812 – 1859), a physician who studied the flora and flora of Silesia. Involucrata is from the Latin words involucre, meaning a cloth to wrap round one; or involucrum, meaning a wrapper, envelope. Botanically it means having leaves or bracts surrounding the base of the flower-head.
Occurs in western parts of the southwest of Western Australia.
A shrub to 1.5 metres tall. The white to pink flowers are produced from December to March.
