Reichardia tingitana

Common name: False Sow-thistle

Meaning of name:

Reichardia is named after Johann Jakob Reichard, a German physician and botanist. Tingitana is from the Latin word tingitanus, meaning associated with Tangier, Morocco.

Distribution:

Found from Shark Bay to Perth and Israelite Bay to the South Australian border. Also found in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

Description:

An annual herb to 30 centimetres tall. The yellow flowers are produced all year but mainly August to October.

Notes:

This species is originally from the Mediterranean region.
