Pterostylis sp. 1

Common name: Short-eared Snail Orchid

Meaning of name:

Pterostylis comes from the Greek words pteron, meaning wing, and stylos, meaning pillar, referring to the winged column. The column is an organ combining the stamens and style of the flower. We are not aware of this plant’s specific name.

Distribution:

Occurs between Dongara and Israelite Bay.

Description:

A single flower is produced on a stem up to 12 centimetres tall in August to early October.
