Atrosanguinea is from the Latin words ater, meaning dark, and sanguineus, meaning blood-coloured, of both fresh and dried blood.
Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.
Up to 20 flowers are held on stems up to 40 centimetres high between July and September.
