Common name: Common Paper Wasp
Meaning of name:
Unknown.
Distribution:
This wasp is native to eastern Australia and has been introduced to Western Australia.
Description:
Common Paper Wasps are 15 – 20 millimetres long and have orange, yellow and brown bands on their abdomen.
Notes:
They build their hanging nests from plant fibres that have been chewed to a papier mache consistency. The nest has a single attachment point but can be about 20 centimetres in diameter.
