


Pentameris airoides
Common name: False Hairgrass
Pentameris is from the Greek words penta, meaning five, and meris, meaning a part. Airoides is from the genus Aira and the suffix -oides, meaning like.
Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia. Also occurs in south eastern Australia.
An annual grass to 15 centimetres tall. The green, red and purple flowers are produced from September to December.
This species is originally from South Africa.
It was previously known as Pentaschistis airoides.
