Paspalum distichum

Common name: Water Couch

Meaning of name:

Paspalum is from the Greek word paspalos, meaning millet. Distichum is from the Greek word distichos, meaning in two rows or lines.

Distribution:

Found in moist habitats in the south west of Western Australia. Also found across northern and eastern Australia.

Description:

A creeping grass up to 50 centimetres tall.

Notes:

This species is originally from tropical areas of the world.
