Meaning of name:

Papaver is the Latin word for poppy. Hybridum is from the Latin word hybrida meaning mongrel or hybrid.

Distribution:

Occurs across much of southern Australia.

Description:

The red flowers are produced in spring.

Notes:

This species is originally from the temperate northern hemisphere.
