




Oxalis pes-caprae
Common name: Soursob
Oxalis is from the Greek word oxaleios, meaning sorrel. Pes-caprae is from the Latin words pes, meaning foot, and capra, meaning she-goat. It may refer to the resemblance of the leaves to a goat’s footprint or to the seed and bulbils being caught in goat’s feet and so spread.
Occurs across much of southern Australia.
A ground hugging plant. The yellow flowers are produced from June to October.
This species is originally from South Africa.
