



Osteospermum ecklonis
Common name: Cape Daisy
Osteospermum is from the Greek words osteo, meaning bone, and spermum, meaning seeded. Ecklonis honours Christian Friedrich Ecklon (1795 – 1868). He was a Danish apothecary and collected plants, especially in South Africa.
Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia. Also occurs in south eastern Australia.
A perennial herb or shrub to 50 centimetres tall. The white or purple flowers are produced in spring and summer.
This species is originally from South Africa.
