Opercularia vaginata

Common name: Dog Weed

Meaning of name:

Opercularia is from the Latin word operculum, meaning cover or lid. It refers to the lid-like valves on the fruit. Vaginata is from the Latin word vaginatus, meaning sheath.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

A spreading shrub to 30 centimetres tall. The green flowers are produced from August to October.
