

Disa bracteata
Common name: South African Orchid
Meaning of name:
Disa is named after Queen Disa of a Swedish legend. Bracteata is from the Latin word bracteatus, meaning bracteate.
Distribution:
Occurs in the south west of Western Australia. Also found in south eastern Australia.
Description:
Up to 50 flowers are held on a stem to 40 centimetres high during October and November.
Notes:
This species is originally from South Africa. It was first identified growing near Albany in 1944.
