Misopates orontium

Common name: Lesser Snapdragon

Meaning of name:

Misopates was the name used by Dioscorides for several plants. Orontium is from the Greek word orontion, the name given to plants said to grow near the river Orontes.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia. Also occurs in south eastern Australia.

Description:

A herb up to 50 centimetres tall with pink flowers produced from July to October.

Notes:

This species is originally from western Asia.
