Melinis repens
Common name: Red Natal Grass
Meaning of name:
Melinis is a Greek word for a cereal. Repens is a Latin word meaning prostrate or creeping.
Distribution:
Occurs in scattered locations in Western Australia. More commonly found on the east coast of Australia.
Description:
Grows to 50 centimetres tall and has red coloured panicles from July to December.
Notes:
This species is originally from South Africa.
