Marbled Gecko

Scientific name: Christinus marmoratus

Meaning of name:

The name Christinus refers to Miss Christine Biggs of London. Marmoratus is Latin meaning marbled.

Distribution:

Occurs throughout southern Australia.

Description:

A nocturnal gecko that can grow to 14 centimetres long. The Marbled Gecko has blackish zigzag markings on a grey to brown background.

Notes:

The tail can be regrown if lost. The regrown tail usually has a different pattern to the rest of the body.
