Long-nosed Dragon
Scientific name: Gowidon longirostris
The meaning of Gowidon is not known. Longirostris is from the Latin words longus, meaning long, and rostrum, meaning snout.
Occurs in the drier parts of Western Australia from the south Kimberley to Greenough. Also through the arid parts of Northern Territory and South Australia.
This lizard can grow up to 40 centimetres long, with 3/4 of this being tail. It has a distinctive pale stripe running from the tip of its nose along each side.
As it is out of its normal range, it is suspected that this dragon was a pet and has escaped or been released.
