Lomandra preissii
Common name: Preiss’ Mat Rush
Lomandra is from the Greek words loma, meaning the border of a robe, and andros, meaning man. It refers to the border of the anthers in some species. Preissii honours Johann August Ludwig Preiss (1811 – 1883) who collected in Western Australia more than 2,700 species.
Occurs in the south west of Western Australia.
A small tuft of leaves to 60 centimetres tall. The greenish yellow or purple flower spikes can be held higher than the leaves from April to July.
Lomandra have separate male and female plants.
The greenish yellow and purple flower forms can be found growing together.
