Lesser Long-eared Bat

Occurs over all of Australia except the north-eastern coast of Queensland.

A medium-sized bat with a head and body length of approximately 45 millimetres. The back is light grey while the underside is paler, often white. This species has a wingspan of approximately 24 centimetres.

This species commonly roosts in crevices, under peeling bark and in tree hollows. They mostly eat moths, crickets and grasshoppers but have been known to eat ants, spiders, beetles, cockroaches, bugs, flies and lacewings.

Mating usually takes place in April and May and the twin young are born in October or November. By December the young can fly and they are independent by February.
