Lepidosperma scabrum

Common name: Scabrid Sword-sedge

Meaning of name:

Lepidosperma is from the Greek words lepis, meaning scale, and sperma, meaning seed. It refers to the scales surrounding the nut. Scabrum is from the Latin word scaber, meaning scabrous (rough and covered with, or as if with, scabs).

Distribution:

Occurs in the south west of Western Australia.

Description:

A herb to 1.5 metres tall. Flowers are borne in April and May.
