Lechenaultia floribunda
Common name: Free-flowering Leschenaultia
Lechenaultia is named in honour of Jean-Baptiste Louis Claud Theodore Leschenault de la Tour (1773 – 1826). The genus is so spelt because Robert Brown, who named it, mis-spelt Leschenault’s name. Floribunda is from the Latin words flos or floris, meaning flower, and abundus, meaning abounding in.
Found in near-coastal areas from Shark Bay to Margaret River.
A shrub to 50 centimetres tall. The blue or white flowers are produced from October to January.
