





Lactuca saligna
Common name: Wild Lettuce
Lactuca is Latin meaning lettuce. It comes from the words lac or lactis meaning milk, referring to the milky sap. Saligna is from the Latin word salignus, meaning resembling a willow, in reference to the leaves.
Scattered throughout the southwest of Western Australia. Also reported from other areas across Australia.
A herb to 1 metre tall. The flowers are a pale yellow and are produced from January to May.
This species is originally from Europe.
