Kobonga umbrimargo

Meaning of name:

Unknown.

Distribution:

Occurs throughout much of the southern half of Australia.

Description:

The head and thorax are variable in colour from yellow to dark reddish brown. The black markings are also variable. The underside of the abdomen is yellow or tending orange. There are some dark markings on the wings. The length of the wing is 28 – 35 millimetres in males and 34 – 39 millimetres in females.

Notes:

Found in eucalypts but sometimes in tall shrubs. The call is made both during the day and at dusk.

We have seen this species in November, December and January.
