


Ixia fuscocitrina
Common name: Yellow Ixia
Ixia is Greek word, meaning an ancient name for a plant with a wide range of colours. Fuscocitrina is from the Latin words fuscus, meaning brown or dark, and citrinus, meaning lemon yellow.
Occurs around old settlements and road verges from Perth to Albany. However, it is spreading into adjacent bushland. Also occurs in south eastern Australia.
The plant grows to 50 centimetres tall. The flowers are yellow with dark centres and produced in August and September.
This species was previously known as Ixia maculata.
It is originally from South Africa.
