Hypocalymma angustifolium

Common name: White Myrtle

Meaning of name:

Hypocalymma is from the Greek words hypo, meaning under, and calymma, meaning a covering or hood. It refers to the cap of the calyx in bud. Angustifolium is from the Latin words angustus, meaning narrow, and folium, meaning leaf.

Aboriginal Use:

The leaves were used to relieve headaches and nasal congestion. They were also used in the treatment of skin conditions.

Distribution:

Occurs in the south west of Western Australia.

Description:

An open shrub to 1.5 metres tall. The white to pink flowers are produced from July to October.
