This wasp is approximately 25 millimetres long (excluding ovipositor).

These wasps are parasitoids and use their long ovipositor to lay their eggs in the bodies of caterpillars. The young wasp larva consumes the caterpillar and emerges from dead caterpillar as an adult.

Male wasps are similar to females but don’t have the ovipositor.
