



Helianthus annuus
Common name: Sunflower
Helianthus is from the Greek words helios, meaning the sun, and anthos, meaning a flower. Annuus is a Latin word meaning lasting a year or annual.
Found in scattered locations mainly across southern Australia.
An erect plant to 3 metres tall. The flower heads can be large with a black centre surrounded by yellow petals from February to May.
This plant is originally from North America.
