Description:
This bee fly was approximately 5 millimetres long.
Notes:
Bee flies occur on every continent except Antarctica. While the adults eat nectar and pollen, almost all bee fly larvae are parasites of other insects’ larvae.
This bee fly was photographed in January on the flower of a Marri, Corymbia calophylla.
