Gastrolobium capitatum

Common name: Bacon and Eggs

Meaning of name:

Gastrolobium is from the Greek words gaster or gastros, meaning paunch, belly, and lobos, meaning pod. It refers to the ovoid pods. Capitata is from the Latin word capitatus, meaning headed, botanically it means forming a head.

Distribution:

Occurs from Eneabba to Busselton.

Description:

A shrub to 1 metre tall. The yellow and red or brown flowers are produced from June to September.
