Euzosteria sordida

Common name: Grey Tortoise Cockroach

Meaning of name:

The meaning of Euzosteria is not known. Sordida comes from the Latin word sordidus meaning dirty-coloured.

Distribution:

This cockroach is known from the southern parts of Australia.

Description:

This cockroach was approximately 25 millimetres long.

Notes:

Euzosteria species are often seen wandering by day in arid conditions. They have been known to spray a pungent fluid at aggressors.

We have photographed this species in March and November.
