Meaning of name:
Eragrostis is from the Greek words eros, meaning love, and agrostis, meaning a grass. Elongata is from the Latin words elongatus, meaning lengthened. In this species it refers to the long flower heads.
Distribution:
Occurs across much of Australia.
Description:
A tufted perennial to 0.9 metres tall. The flowers are produced in summer.
