Cats were introduced to Australia with the earliest non-Aboriginal explorers. Since then, cats have established themselves across the country. Cats are a great threat to our native wildlife. They have been known to travel up to 10km in one day to reach their preferred hunting grounds.

Several bushland areas in the City of Canning have been declared as cat prohibited zones. This means that any cat found in the area can be seized, the owner fined and/or the cat put down.
