Calytrix flavescens

Common name: Yellow Star Flower

Meaning of name:

Calytrix is from the Greek words calyx, meaning cup, and thrix or trichos, meaning hair. It refers to the long awns, or stiff hairs, terminating the calyx-lobes. Flavescens is Latin for pale yellow.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

An erect shrub to 80 centimetres, but usually shorter. The yellow flowers are produced from November to January.
