Austrostipa elegantissima
Meaning of name:
Austrostipa is from the Latin words austro, meaning southern, and stipa, meaning fibre. Elegantissima is from the Latin word elegans, meaning choisest, finest or most elegant.
Distribution:
Occurs southwest of a line from Shark Bay to Kalgoorlie to Esperance. Also found in other southern Australian states.
Description:
A grass to 3 metres tall, with white filamentous flowers from August to January.
