Anigozanthos viridis

Common name: Green Kangaroo Paw

Meaning of name:

The meaning of the name Anigozanthos is unclear as La Billardiere, who described the species, did not record why he gave the plant this name. It is likely to be derived from the Greek words anisos, meaning unequal and anthos, meaning flower. Viridis is Latin for green.

Koroylbardany.

Aboriginal Use:

The roots were eaten raw or roasted.

Distribution:

Occurs from Cervantes to Walpole.

Description:

Low growing plant with flower stems up to 65 centimetres tall. The green flowers are produced from August to October.
