Distribution:

This caterpillar and moth has been reported from the southern parts of Australia.

Description:

This caterpillar was approximately 20 millimetres long. The moth can have a wingspan of approximately 20 millimetres.

Notes:

Only the male moths have wings. Females remain near their pupal cocoon and wait for the males to come to them. After mating, the female lays her eggs on her vacant cocoon.

The caterpillars feed on lichen and algae. This caterpillar was seen in March. The cocoon was seen in December.
