Amyema preissii
Common name: Wireleaf Mistletoe
Amyema is from the Greek prefix a-, meaning negative, and the Greek word myeo, meaning to instruct. This is because the full description of the genus had not been published when the name was first used. Preissii honours Johann August Ludwig Preiss (1811 – 1883) who collected in Western Australia more than 2,700 species.
Occurs south from the Pilbara and east to central Australia.
An aerial parasitic shrub found mainly on Acacia species. The red to orange flowers are produced from November to April and are followed by pale pink berries.
