Amyema miquelii
Common name: Stalked Mistletoe
Amyema is from the Greek prefix a-, meaning negative, and the Greek word myeo, meaning to instruct. This is because the full description of the genus had not been published when the name was first used. Miquelii honours Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel (1811 – 1871) who studied various Australian plant families.
Reported from all mainland Australian states.
An aerial parasitic shrub found mainly on Corymbia and Eucalyptus species. The red to orange flowers are produced from March to July and are followed by brown fruit.
