


Amegilla (Notomegilla) chlorocyanea
Common name: Blue-banded Bee
Meaning of name:
The meaning of Amegilla is unknown. Chlorocyanea is from the Greek word chloros, meaning green, and the Latin word cyaneus, meaning dark blue.
Distribution:
This bee has been reported from across mainland Australia.
Description:
This bee is approximately 12 millimetres long.
Notes:
We have photographed this species in November and February.
