Agonis flexuosa

Common name: Peppermint

Meaning of name:

Agonis is from the Greek word agon, meaning a gathering or collection. Flexuosa is from the Latin word flexuose, meaning zig-zag.

Distribution:

Occurs along the coast from Perth to Bremer Bay.

Description:

A tall shrub or tree up to 15 metres tall. The white flowers are produced from August to December.

Notes:

This species has introduced itself into our reserves. Agonis flexuosa has been used as a street tree and seedlings have grown from the seed it produces.
