Acacia saligna

Common name: Orange Wreath Wattle

Meaning of name:

Acacia is from the Greek word acis, meaning a pointed instrument. Saligna is from the Latin word salignus, meaning resembling a willow.

Aboriginal Name:

Coojong.

Aboriginal Use:

The seeds were used to make damper.

Distribution:

Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

A tree to 6 metres tall. The yellow to orange flowers are produced in August and September.
