Xederra barbarae

Common name: Barbara’s Xederra

Meaning of name:

Unknown.

Distribution:

Found in the southwest of Western Australia.

Description:

The larger of the photographed katydids had a body length of approximately 24 millimetres (excluding the ovipositor).

Notes:

These katydids are ground-dwelling, preferring dry leaf litter. They may be threatened by repetitive burning, which removes both their habitat and the katydids themselves.

This katydid has been photographed in October and December.
