Freesia aff leichtlinii

Common name: Freesia

Meaning of name:

Freesia is named after Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese, a German botanist and physician. The meaning of leichtlinii is not known.

Distribution:

Found in the south west of Western Australia and south eastern Australia.

Description:

An escaped garden plant to 40 centimetres tall. The highly perfumed, white to yellow flowers are produced from August to October.

Notes:

This plant is a hybrid of two South African species.
