Free guided wildflower walk

The Friends of Queens Park Bushland will be holding a one hour guided walk through the bushland on Saturday, 7 September 2013, to view the wildflowers. Join us at 9.00am at the gate on Station St, East Cannington, halfway between Luyer Ave and Welshpool Rd.

The walk should take about 1 hour but you are welcome to spend as much time exploring the area as you like. There is no cost to attend the walk and refreshments will be available for a gold coin donation.

Many of the wildflowers will be at their best for the walk. You can expect to see donkey and cowslip orchids, purple tassels, milkmaids and lots more. Your guides will be able to tell you the names of the plants you come across and share some interesting facts with you as well.

There will also be displays of some of the things we have found in the bush. We have some invertebrates preserved in resin – including scorpions – and bones found in a nest box. See if you can work out what the bones belong to and who left them in the nest box.

Come along and get to know your bushland a little bit better.
